Meeting of the Clayton County Board of Supervisors at their office, 200 E. Bridge St., Elkader, Iowa.

Present: Larry Gibbs, Wayne Bockenstedt, Randy Keehner

 

Larry Gibbs made a motion to designate the following newspapers as Official County newspapers: The Outlook, Guttenberg Press, and the Clayton County Register. Randy Keehner seconded the motion. Ayes: Bockenstedt, Gibbs and Keehner.

 

Representatives from the Guttenberg City Council were on hand to discuss the recent Guttenberg/Garber road project and the County’s billing of the City of Guttenberg for said project.

 

Rafe Koopman advised the Board of the impending retirement of his assistant engineer and his desire to begin seeking a replacement. He voiced his interest in looking for job candidates in a broad range, from those with technical degrees to those with graduate engineering degrees. The Board gave its approval to begin this process.

 

Koopman also advised the Board of his plans to erect a salt storage shed in order to take advantage of State programs for purchasing salt. He will be checking into purchasing a hoop building for this purpose.

 

Tom Gifford and Bruce Schultz presented the Board with the County’s insurance renewal for 2008. Randy Keehner moved to accept the insurance proposal. Larry Gibbs seconded the motion. Ayes: Bockenstedt, Gibbs and Keehner.
