Representatives from the Floyd-Mitchell-Chickasaw Landfill made a proposal for a toxic waste cleanup day for Clayton County. The Board will take the proposal under consideration.
Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Keehner, to approve the County Treasurer’s Semi-annual Report. Ayes: Gibbs, Bockenstedt, Keehner
Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Keehner, to abate the taxes of Charles Kellogg and Carolyn Jones of $193.00 on a mobile home in Garnavillo that no longer exists. Ayes: Gibbs, Bockenstedt, Keehner
A second public hearing on the following appeal was held. Applicant: Richard B. Towle, for property described as: (Approximately 14,500 sq. ft. located in Lots 21 & 22 of Block 3 of the Jones and Bass Addition in Section 28, T95N, R3W, Mendon Township, Clayton County, Iowa). Applicant would like to change the present zoning classification of A-1 (Agricultural) to the proposed zoning classification of M-1 (Light Industrial) to allow him to work on vintage cars and trucks. Dan Davies was present to voice opposition to the appeal. Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Keehner, to deny the appeal of Richard Towle and to waive the third reading of the appeal. Ayes: Gibbs, Bockenstedt, Keehner
Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Bockenstedt, to renew the lease agreement with DHS Case Management for space in the County Office Building. Ayes: Gibbs, Bockenstedt Absent: Keehner (attending another meeting)
A representative of Willmark Energy gave a presentation to twelve people from the public and news media. The presentation was regarding the proposed ethanol plant to be built near Postville. The projected cost of the plant is $54 million. The plant will use a biomass boiler which can burn many things but at this time it is expected to burn wood. The plant will use 250,000 gallons of water daily. By-products of ash and feed grain will also be produced. The company wants to be as community and environmentally friendly as possible.
Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Keehner to approve the minutes of January 30, February 6,11,13, 20 and 27, 2008. Ayes: Gibbs, Bockenstedt, Keehner
