Meeting of the Board of Supervisors at their office, 200 E. Bridge St., Elkader, IA.

Present:  Larry Gibbs, Wayne Bockenstedt, Randy Keehner

 

Motion by Bockenstedt, seconded by Keehner, to approve resolution # 22-2007 regarding appropriation of funds for fiscal year ending June 30, 2008.

RESOLUTION # 22-2007

 

WHEREAS, July 1, 2007, begins a new fiscal year and it is necessary to make appropriations to the various departments for the legal expenditure of funds,

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Clayton County, Iowa, that the following appropriations are made to the respective department for fiscal year ending June 30, 2008 as adopted in the budget and as presented in the following table:

The board approved a claim for payment on the mental health note with FreedomBank.

 

A second public hearing on the amendment to Ordinance #1-2003 to extend the school local option sales and services tax to December 31, 2022.  There were no objections heard.  Motion by Keehner, seconded by Bockenstedt, to approve the second and final reading of the amendment to Ordinance # 1-2003.  Ayes:  Gibbs, Bockenstedt, Keehner

 

A public hearing was held on a zoning change from A-1 to C-1 for Don Bries on property described as approximately 2 acres located in Lot 1 in the SW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 6, T92N, R2W, Jefferson Township, Clayton County, Iowa.  Motion by Bockenstedt, seconded by Gibbs, to approve the first reading of the zoning change with the stipulation that the land be used for the sales and service of homes, along with the associated business office and that if a transfer of ownership occurs the land will automatically revert back to Agriculture (A-1) and the new owner will have to request rezoning if they wish to operate a business on that land.  Ayes:  Gibbs, Bockenstedt  Absent:  Keehner

Motion by Bockenstedt, seconded by Gibbs, to approve a 4% increase to the following non-union department and non-deputy employees.  The employees in the Sheriff and Engineer Office who are not under union contract receive the amount of increase that the union receives.  Those receiving 4% increase in salary are:
