Meeting of the Board of Supervisors at their office, 200 E. Bridge St., Elkader, IA. Present: Larry Gibbs, Wayne Bockenstedt, Randy Keehner
The board approved claims for payment.
A public hearing was held with no objections heard on resolution #1-2007 regarding a lease extension to the Turkey River Sportsmen for land behind the County Office Building. Motion by Bockenstedt, seconded by Keehner, to approve resolution #1-2007 regarding a lease extension of five years to the Turkey River Sportsmen.
Resolution # 1-2007 WHEREAS, Clayton County, has a property interest to the following described real estate:
Lot 1 of the NW ¼ NE¼ and Lots 1 & 3 of the NE¼ NE¼ of Section 22, Township 93 North, Range 5 West of the 5th PM
Lot 2 of the S½ of the SE¼ and Lot 2 of the SE¼SE¼ of Section 15, Township 93 North, Range 5 West of the 5th PM
Lot 2 of the SW¼SW¼ of Section 14, Township 93 North, Range 5 West of the 5th PM
WHEREAS, the Turkey River Sportsmen have made improvements to this area known as Schultz’ Pond and currently rent the land previously described for a term of ten years with rental payments of $2,860.00 annually,
WHEREAS, the Turkey River Sportsmen desire a five year extension to the current lease’s term,
WHEREAS, the Clayton County Board of Supervisors deem this proposal to be in the best interest of the public of Clayton County,
WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 331.361(2) of the CODE OF IOWA, 2005, notice of a public hearing is published in the Clayton County Register on December 27, 2006, for a hearing to be held on January 3, 2007,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Clayton County, Iowa, that the Board Chairman and County Auditor be authorized to execute an amendment to the lease for a term of five years to Turkey River Sportsmen for said real estate.

Lauren Merritt was present to give the following report on the status of funds for the Clayton County CDBG Flood Grant:
This is the time and date for the Status of Funds Hearing on the Community Development Block Grant for Clayton County Flood Project. This hearing is to update citizens on the progress.
The CDBG project involves the buying out, demolishing and returning to green property that was substantially damaged in the flood of May 2004. This is in conjunction with funds obtained from FEMA and the hazard mitigation process. As of January 1, 2007 there has been approximately $1,081,287 spent for project costs out of the original budget of $1,902,437 with the CDBG funds providing $161,745.
The project location has not changed and the objectives, project scope, project budget, beneficiaries, and performance targets remain the same. The project currently has an Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED) contract end date of May 31, 2007.
