Meeting of Board of Supervisors in their office, 200 E. Bridge St., Elkader, IA.

Present:  Walke, Meyer, Gibbs

 

Approved claims for payment.

Bids were received for project BROS-CO22(37)-8J-22 in section 25 of Jefferson Township on Lace Ave as follows:

 

K Construction Inc.$199,723.38
Taylor Construction, Inc.$216,123.35
Brennan Construction Co.$237,832.10
Minnowa Construction, Inc.$258,900.40

                 

Motion by Walke, seconded by Gibbs, to accept K Construction Inc. bid of $199,723.38 on project BROS-CO22(37)-8J-22.  Aye:  Walke, Meyer, Gibbs

 

A public hearing was conducted on an application for an animal confinement construction permit of Joe Brandt.  Larry Stone was present to ask questions regarding procedure for animal confinement construction permits and the county’s status of the master matrix system. A concern to protect the natural resources of Clayton County was also expressed. The county is to take comments on the permit application and refer them on to the DNR that issues the permit. 

 

The board met with representatives of Clayton County Recycling and Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission regarding a possible tax increment financing district to create financial incentives for growth of the Clayton County Recycling business.  Motion by Walke, seconded by Gibbs, to support creating a TIF district for Clayton County Recycling.  Ayes:  Walke, Meyer, Gibbs

 

Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Walke, to allow Clayton County Development Group to purchase television advertising for tourism from the revenue of the hotel/motel tax in the rural area of the county.  Ayes:  Walke, Meyer, Gibbs
