Meeting of the Board of Supervisors at their office, 200 E. Bridge St., Elkader, Iowa.

Present:  Robert Walke, Neil Meyer, Larry Gibbs

 

Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Walke, to authorize the chairman to sign contract and bond on projects 2005-R-1, L-723(1) and N-16-54.  Ayes:  Walke, Meyer, Gibbs

 

A public hearing was held regarding the final plat of Top of the Rainbow subdivision.  The subdivision plat and the minutes from the Planning and Zoning Commission were present.  No objections or comments were heard. Motion by Walke, seconded by Gibbs, to approve the reading of the final plat of Top of the Rainbow subdivision.  Ayes:  Walke, Meyer, Gibbs

 

Nancy Yelden, Visiting Nurse Association, was present to discuss the deficit billing budget of VNA regarding purchase of a vehicle for VNA.  It was decided that is not an appropriate expenditure since the VNA is privately owned by Finley Hospital.

 

Due to some price concerns, the Auxiant health insurance contract was not approved until the issues can be resolved.

 

Bob Hamann, County Sheriff, discussed the status of one of his staff.

 

Vicki Bloxham, Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission, presented a draw down request for the Elkader Day Care Center project for approval.

 

Sandy Seifert and Terry Puelz, Scenic Acres administration, discussed the sewer lagoon system of Scenic Acres.  The DNR has concerns with the current functionality of the system and will not issue a renewal permit until an engineer studies the system.

 

Haleisa Johnson, Central Community Hospital, discussed a health grant application to the State of Iowa for education and treatment of obesity through different programs.  She was seeking Clayton County as an employer to endorse the program.

 

Motion by Walke, seconded by Gibbs, to approve the proposed contract for services of Medical Associates HMO.  Ayes:  Walke, Meyer, Gibbs
