Meeting of the Board of Supervisors in their office on East Bridge St., Elkader.

Present:  Walke, Meyer, and Gibbs

 

Gibbs move to nominate Meyer as chairman for the year.  Walke seconded and all voted aye.  Walke then moved to appoint Gibbs as vice chairman for the coming year.  Meyer seconded and all voted aye.

 

In other board assignments, the following were determined:

Walke will serve as board representative to:

  • Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission

  • Clayton County Communications Board

  • Clayton County E-911 Board

  • Interstate Transmodal Efficiency Act Policy Board

  • Northeast Iowa Juvenile Detention Board

  • Regional DHS Advisory Board

  • 1st Judicial District Department of Corrections Board, and is in charge of Scenic Acres Building.

Meyer will serve as board representative to:

  • Juvenile Hold Over Facility Board

  • Substance Abuse Services Board

  • Northeast Iowa Agency on Aging

  • Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation Board

  • Iowa Workforce Development Board - Local Elected Officials alternate

  • 1st Judicial District Department of Corrections Board alternate, and is in charge of: Courthouse and County Office Building.

Gibbs will serve as board representative to:

  • Clayton County Economic Development Board

  • Iowa Workforce Development Board

  • Resource Enhancement and Protection Board

  • Decat Advisory Board

  • Empowerment Board

  • Mental Health Center Board, and is in charge of: Jail/Sheriff's Office Buildings

Gibbs moved to appoint Dr. Michelle Sadler to a 3 year term, ending 12-31-07 on the Board of Health, replacing Dr. Scot Christianson, Edgewood, who declined another term.  Walke seconded and all voted aye.

 

Walke moved to keep bounty payments the same as in past years:

    35¢/front pair of gopher feet

    $5.00 per coyote head

Gibbs seconded and all voted aye.

 

Gibbs moved to increase mileage paid to county employees, when necessary to use their personal vehicles, from the current 28¢/mile to 32¢/mile.  Walke seconded and all voted aye.

 

The County Auditor and Board Chairman signed the Final Delivery Certificate for the General Obligation Bonds received for the new Jail/Law Enforcement Center.

 

Walke moved to approve a new county-wide safety program, including new rules for workers compensation incidents, to be put into practice immediately, involving every county employee.  Gibbs seconded and all vote aye.

 

Chairman declared the meeting adjourned.
